Here's what I like about Nico: in a way, she's like all the stupid girl-celebrities of today who were models or actresses or simply dumb sluts (you know who you are, Paris) and then decided that they wanted to be singers too. BUT she pulled it off! I like how simple her lyrics are, how simple the songs themselves are, and how they're good even though her voice isn't actually good in the conventional sense.
Also, I've always respected and been really envious of gals that get in real good with groups of guys because they're cool enough to pull it off. Maybe The Velvet Underground just liked her cause she was a babe, but check out how cool she looks hanging out with all them guys.
Furthermore, she was more than just a pretty face. She was fluent in English, Spanish, French, Italian, and her native German. I so want to be bilingual.

also, it is maybe my most ardent desire to be in a band with all boys. i think thats why i think i secretly have a great singing voice...and why i bought a banjo.

The Velvet Underground didn't want her in the band. Andy Warhol put her there, and then they got rid of both of them soon after.
But I agree, she's great.
actually, she wasn't entirely surrounded by guys. moe tucker is there too (:
